Jason Foster

We Are Free.; Owner

Jason Foster's first foray into the music business began in Baltimore City where he and a partner created indie label Monitor Records (1999-2006), which released albums by Cass McCombs, Battles, and OXES. After years of being in the red and growing disdain of the music biz Foster almost called it quits until hearing a few demos of the Brooklyn based band Yeasayer. This was fate. After putting Monitor to rest Foster took all his savings and started a new record label/management company called We Are Free, which would be the home for Yeasayer's first release All Hour Cymbals. With this new company Foster would be able to release records but also begin to focus on management, which currently takes up the majority of his time. His current roster consists of Yeasayer, Beach House, and Lower Dens (all linked through Baltimore believe it or not!).
