Alec Hanley Bemis is a writer and creative manager with a focus on music-related projects. He began his career as a journalist for outlets like The New York Times, The New Yorker, and LA Weekly. In 2001, he co-founded Brassland, a label documenting a community built around label co-founders The National. Today he also advises other entities, serving as manager for !!! (aka Chk Chk Chk), Alexi Murdoch, and Ian Axel. Past clients include Dirty Projectors, All Tomorrow's Parties, and Bang on a Can's Cantaloupe Music label. He is on the board of directors for Manhattan New Music Project, an arts education non-profit, and WYBC, Yale University's radio station.
