Ray Farrell is the head of U.S. operations for finetunes, a full service music and video distributor providing a variety of back office delivery and digital marketing tools for music labels. He is well versed in digital royalty processing and content management. From 1999-2007, he was VP of Content Acquisition at the groundbreaking digital music site eMusic.com. He is credited with signing up the sites first 2.5 million tracks, licensed from indie labels from around the world. Prior to eMusic, in the days of compact discs and cassettes, Farrell spent ten years with Geffen/DGC Records, where he handled A&R and marketing duties for Sonic Youth, Rob Zombie, Southern Culture On The Skids and Garrison Starr among others. He established and managed the promotion department at SST Records as it reached its pinnacle with an incredible roster, including Black Flag, Sonic Youth, The Minutemen and Husker Du.
